Holistic Education in a

Natural Enviornment

We, at Grow International Learning Center (GILC), believe that education comes from within. A child learns best when he/she is motivated to learn. GILC’s learning environment reflects this philosophy. Our objective is to provide a firm personal and academic foundation for our young learners.

About the Program Director
The director of the Pre-School Program, Ms.Sonthaya Chutisacha, is a Counseling Psychologist and a Holistic Educator. Besides her experience in incorporating the English National Curriculum in classrooms, Ms. Chutisacha has trained various educators and parents in a program that uses physical movements and awareness to support learning.

Our Curriculum

We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage Program. This program is part of the English National Curriculum.

The areas of learning as outlined by the program are as follows:

1. Personal, Social and Emotional Development
2. Communication, Language and Literacy
3. Mathematical Development
4. Knowledge and Understanding of the World
5. Physical Development
6. Creative Development

In addition to the above, we teach our students centering and concentration techniques via the following structured programs:

Brain Gym

Yoga

Intentional Breathing

Our Environment
Nature forms an important part of our learning environment as we believe that being outdoors has a positive impact on a child’s well being and overall development. We are located in a compound with a big green garden and trees - an ideal setting in the heart of the city to support learning and growth.

Within the classroom, areas have been designated for literacy, numeracy/building blocks, reading, and pretend play (with props).

Individual Learning Program
We understand that the pace of learning varies individually for each child. An Individual Learning Program (ILP) will be designed for each child to ensure that his/her learning needs are met.

In addition to meeting the academic needs of students, the Individual Learning Program will encapsulate areas that affect a child's overall wellbeing.

Based on her experience as an educator and counseling psychologist, Ms. Chutisacha, the Program Director,has documented that physical and emotional health are two important areas that directly impact a child's learning and self concept.

In order to ensure a child's physical and emotional well being, the following will be adhered to:

Movement and breathing exercises will be chalked out for each student.
Child Counselling through intentional hands-on activities will be done as needed.
An Individual Diet Plan by a Holistic Nutritionist will be recommended for each child as per his/her body type. Given her experience with children, Ms. Chutisacha has noted that besides affecting the child's physical health, an inappropriate diet also affects how mentally alert a child is .
